Jesse Ruskin Stein

Born:  7 July 1884 - Mt. Enterprise, Rusk, Texas
Died:  29 March 1967 - Palestine, Anderson, Texas
Father:  Burgess Stein

Spouse:  Alma Zeta Johnson  - 2 August 1915 - Anderson County, Texas

Mr. Jesse R. Stein was born in Mt. Enterprise, Texas, July 7, 1884 to the union of Burgess and Lola Stein.
At an early age he joined Walnut Grove C.M.E. church.  he attended school in the Mt. Enterprise Community until completing the course of study there.  He attended and completed several Normals Courses in and around Rusk County.  he taught school in his home county for a number of years.  he resigned from his teaching career to accept a job in the Attorneys General's office in Washington, D.C.  He remained there for a period of time, but due to ill health he resigned this job to accept a job with the Railway Mail Service. He remained on this job until his retirement in July 1947.
He was a long member of the Cottrell Methodist Church, Palestine, Texas.
He was united in holy matrimony with Mrs. Alma Johnson Stein August 2, 1915.  She preceded him in death.
After an illness he departed this life March 2, 1967 at 4:40 o'clock a.m.  He is survived by two brothers, one sister, sixteen nieces, twenty-six nephews, many other relatives and friends.
